“The predator/prey mindset” that Serano describes is a mindset that relates to both men and women in the fact that people believe men are always the predators and women are always the prey. Serano talks about this in her essay and shows how it leads to negative stereotypes for men and women with how it puts men in a light that shows that all men are predators that actively seek women to be conquered sexually, and women are prey that can only be sexual objects. This is not true as Serano shows in the essay as she continually states that these roles can be reversed, or that not all men are assholes (people who fit the bill for the predator stereotype) and can sometimes be a “nice guy” while women can sometimes be the predator in these situations, which is most often played off since most people believe that women can not be the predator in this mindset.
